85% of Marikina Businesses resume operations

Nearly 85 percent of over 4,000 businesses that were damaged by Tropical Storm “Ondoy” have resumed operations in Marikina City. According to the Business Permits and Licensing Office (BPLO), of the 4,240 business establishments that sustained damages in one form or another, 3,587 are now operational three weeks after the onslaught of “Ondoy.” “The quick resumption of business operations demonstrates investors’ faith in our city as well as the resiliency that typifies Marikina ,” Mayor Marides Fernando said. There are over 15,000 business establishments in Marikina , BPLO records show. Meanwhile, BPLO has begun a survey to assess the Ondoy-related financial loss incurred by 4,240 businesses in Marikina .
